(21 Feb 2017) UNICEF's executive director on Tuesday said a new document released by the organisation underscored its commitment to ending child recruitment.Speaking at a conference in Paris, Anthony Lake said more resources are needed so that children affected by conflict zones around the world can start building a future "that they deserve".The conference's organisers want coordinated efforts to liberate and re-integrate thousands of child soldiers from Sudan to Somalia, and thousands of girls forced into wedlock by militants from Nigeria to Afghanistan. The conference is also pushing for tougher prosecution of abusers, and protection for hospitals and schools targeted in war zones, such as in Syrian government airstrikes on Aleppo recently.French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said rehabilitation needed to be "at the heart" of a global response. You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
