Acrobat plunges 100ft to Death at Mad Cool festival as 35,000 people watched on but headliners Green Day continuedGreen Day has been criticised for playing at a Spanish music festival, just minutes after an acrobat plunged 100ft to his death. The horrific accident happened as the performer was descending in an illuminated box for a stunt during a break between British Band Alt-J and the US rockers. Footage shows the acrobat falling from the box in front of 35,000 people in the crowd at the Mad Cool Festival in Spain. Dozens of fans criticised festival organisers on social media for their decision to continue with the concert. Although it is not known whether Green Day knew of the accident, thought to have been caused by a snapped harness, many people blamed the band. The acrobat was performing a stunt in a small cage above the crowd accompanied by the Prince song 'Purple Rain' when tragedy struck.
