Athletics governing body Athletics Kenya has appealed for government intervention to ensure the country enters a team for the commonwealth youth games in Bahamas. This is after the National Olympic Committee withdrew from the championships citing undisclosed reasons. Athletics Kenya had started preparing young athletes in various counties and the untimely withdrawal has left many hopeful youngsters disappointed. AK president Rtd gen. Tuwei urged the ministry for sports to ensure that AK would be able to select the youth team and enter it directly into the event without going through NOC in order to accord the budding athletes an opportunity to participate in the international fete. General Tuwei was speaking during the official opening of the residential training camp for Kenya’s world cross country team.
