Some 2,000 people took to the streets of Gomel, Sunday, to march against a presidential decree which obliges unemployed Belarusians to pay for 'social dependency'.The demonstrators marched to the city centre where they started a protest with such slogans as “No to the Decree No.3, Lukashenko, leave!"The decree 'On the prevention of social dependency', which was signed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on April 2, 2015, obliges citizens to pay an annual fee of some $250 (€235/£201) to the state budget if they don't take part in financing public spending or do it less than 183 days in a tax year. Retirees, disabled people, and individuals with young children are reportedly exempt from the payment.
