It is a system designed to ease some of the pain of grief. The Widowed Parents' Allowance offers a lump sum on the death of a partner, and then payments for up to 20 years afterwards. But later this year, that's changing, with parents receiving a bigger lump sum, but having financial support stopped after 18 months. The Government says it'll simplify the system but charities argue it'll leave the most vulnerable without support when they're most in need. Simon Vigar has the story.
