The former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis claimed the EU’s Brexit negotiator had delivered a “very clear message” to the UK. Mr Barnier accused the UK of having “illusions” over the cost of leaving the EU as he laid down the bloc’s demands on Wednesday. Speaking to Sky News moments after the speech from the European Commission was broadcast, Mr Varoufakis, who negotiated with Brussels during the Greek financial crisis in 2015, said: “Brussels speak can cause you to lose the will to live.
