Description
A bill which would force employers to reveal whether they were employing men or women and their pay has been narrowly voted out of parliament. Green MP Jan Logie's Equal Pay Amendment bill was voted down 60 to 59 last night at its first reading. The private member's bill aimed to provide greater evidence to fight gender pay discrimination. National, Act and United Future opposed the bill, saying it would run the risk of divulging confidential details especially for small businesses.
