DescriptionGiant simulation of the city of Mars: designed by one of the most striking architects in the world.Dubai is not known for doing things in half, from the tallest building in the world to the world's largest mall, this is a city that likes big things. Now the United Arab Emirates government has announced that it is building the world's largest space simulation city, and to top it off will be designed by one of the world's most striking architects, Bjarke Ingels, whose company is literally called BIG.The project is called the City of Mars Science and will cover 1.9 million square feet of 176,516 square meters at a cost of nearly $ 140 million dollars. The city will span several domes, including a space for a team that will live up to a year as part of a Mars simulation. Several scientific laboratories will be included, focusing on developing methods for a Mars colony to produce food, energy and water. A museum exhibiting great space achievements will also be incorporated into the city with the museum walls being printed 3D with the sand of the nearby Emirati desert. The United Arab Emirates is a great country with vision and understanding of the challenges we face and the rapid changes that our world is experiencing, says Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Dubai's prime minister. We believe in the potential of space exploration and collaboration with global partners and leaders to take advantage of the results of this research and movement that seeks to meet the needs of people and improve the quality of life on earth.
