Support came for wounded veterans in the area from a long way away, literally. The "Guns to Hammers" non-profit organization, based in Houston, is on tour to specifically help veterans in their homes, and on Saturday they were in Rochester providing remodeling services to make the homes more accessible. The group's founder, J.R. Smith, decided to redirect his time, money and energy toward this mission as a retired U.S. Marine with some guilt that he was able to leave unhurt- unlike many of his brothers in arms."We're a very generous society," he says, "We love our veterans, I know in Texas, people love and want to contribute to these types of causes. So what we're doing right now is we're spreading the word." To make sure veterans continue to get the help they deserve, "Guns to Hammers" will continue traveling- their next stop is Boston on Sunday.
