Description
(22 Mar 2017) Firefighters on Wednesday gathered at the Brussels landmark statue of Manneken Pis, dressed up as a firemen, to mark the first anniversary of suicide bomb attacks on the Brussels airport and subway that killed 32 people. Across the Belgian capital, including on the city's Grand Place, people observed a minute of silence to pay their respects. Public transports also stopped for one minute, followed by flashing of lights and honking to mark the day. More than 300 people were wounded in the attacks, claimed by the Islamic State group, but around 900 people now number themselves among the victims to have suffered physical or mental trauma.Belgium has remained on its second-highest alert level since the bombings a year ago, meaning that the threat of an attack is possible and likely but not immediate. You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
