A man is in jail after attacking a homeless person decoy in Downtown Las Vegas on Feb. 22. Las Vegas Police placed a mannequin, covered in blankets and positioned to resemble a homeless person sleeping, in the same area where two homeless men were killed in January. Shane Schindler’s attach on the decoy was captured on police surveillance video. The report states once Schindler was close enough to the decoy, he struck the mannequin in the head, with the intent to kill. Schindler claims he knew it was a mannequin.Las Vegas is close to getting a second top-tier NASCAR race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway beginning in 2018. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors has scheduled a special meeting on Wednesday to consider a 7-year $2.5 million annual sponsorship agreement with NASCAR. The agreement would include the addition of a fall race at the speedway. The contract would call for 2 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series sanctioned races every year during the term of the agreement.And another IGT “Wheel of Fortune” progressive jack-pot hit on Friday paid out around $585,000 at the Monte Carlo. IGT Progressive jack-pots typically offer a lump sum payment for less than the actual jack-pot, or an option to be paid out in annual installments over a number of years.
