The human brain interprets information in many different ways. Nick Zupancic analyzes how the brain categorizes music and how notes in turn affect emotions. Nick Zupancic is passionate and driven by a unique combination of creativity, inventive problem-solving, and an engineering mindset--a type of "enginuity" (engineering ingenuity). Nick is also a talented musician, playing multiple instruments starting at age 3 with the piano all the way to the tuba he plays in the Symphony Band and a regional orchestra--he has been recognized as a solo-ensemble finalist for the past 5 years. He has been actively involved in the Cranbrook robotics program for the past 6 years, helping propel his team to 3 Robotics Worlds appearances. He is also the co-founder and president of the Cranbrook Drone Club. As a personal project, Nick chose to answer the question: how to provide shelter for the homeless for less than $40. Upon graduation in 2018, Nick plans on pursuing an engineering degree. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
