Sales of new homes in west Arvada almost unvaryingly go to other Arvadans – who very much want to stay inside their city limits when it comes time to resize or upgrade. That’ll doubtless be the case as Arvada’s own Remington Homes opens Whisper Creek III – with a low-maintenance ranch model opening this weekend, showcasing 50 single-family patio ranches for a site east of Indiana north of Coal Creek Canyon Road that has walkout basement possibilities, and some nice views west to the Ralston Buttes and the Flatirons. They’re priced from the $450s.But the first buyer I met last week when I previewed Remington’s attractive 4-bedroom ranch model, was from four miles north in Superior, on U.S. 36 – getting ready to sell, and looking for better home prices than she was seeing near Boulder. She told me the ‘620’ ranch plan you can tour today was perfect – 2,033 square feet on the main level with two bedrooms and a study; plus two guest suites in the walkout.Remington really can deliver one of these from that mid-$400s base price. I asked what a ranch with a finished walkout would cost – like this one, with its four-bedroom count, nice deck, and a view to show from it. Remington puts a pencil to those particulars at around $550,000.The buyer will get landscape maintenance provided – front and backyard, along with snow removal, for just $140 a month. After hearing the pricing and that there were 50 home sites, the buyer asked Remington sales reps, “So, we have some time to decide, right?” The answer to that, was “Not really.” Remington already has 11 sales in advance of the grand opening -- and once experienced Arvada buyers get a chance to see this actual model, they’ll probably move rapidly. Some of those will still have older kids at home – wanting out of their older place, while keeping their top-ranked Jefferson County schools, including Ralston Valley High. You’ll see the amenities that are already on site as part of Whisper Creek’s master plan – pool, clubhouse, lakes with a fishing dock, trails, ballfields, botanic garden, and a cottonwood-lined open space. And a new King Soopers is headed a mile north of here on Indiana.
