Description
At the time of switch off of unverified sim cards at midnight on Friday, the National Identification and Registration Authority was working round the clock to verify 3.8 million sim cards, NTV can now reveal. That switch off affected exactly 5.4 million people, among them 3.8 million who had actually registered and fronted their details but hadn’t been verified yet by the authority. Taking these numbers into account, President Yoweri Museveni speaking during the NRM caucus meeting prolonged the deadline for another 3 months to allow for a final registration dash.
