Syrian Kurds within the High Negotiations Committee group have suspended their participation in the fifth round of the Geneva peace talks, representative of the Kurdish National Council and Member of the HNC negotiating team in the intra-Syrian peace negotiations Fouad Aliko confirmed on Thursday. Aliko stated that Kurdish representatives had to freeze their participation in the Geneva talks on Thursday and Friday, as the Kurdish issue was not considered by the HNC coalition. He explained that some HNC members "were strongly against" adding the 'Kurdish question' or including issues that affected other minorities such as Turkmen and Assyrians to the twelve point proposal, which was to be submitted to the UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura. However Fouad Aliko added that the Kurdish representatives of the High Negotiations Committee were not withdrawing from the group completely, but only terminating their participation in the current round of Geneva talks.Video ID: 20170330 076Video on Demand: http://www.ruptly.tvContact: [email protected]: http://twitter.com/RuptlyFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ruptly
