Description

The UK Parliament's upper house has approved a bill, empowering the government to begin the country’s process of leaving the European Union. The vote means the bill has now passed through parliament after weeks of debate. The government earlier won votes in the lower house, with only a handful of Tory MPs rebelling on the issue. The bill is now sent to the Queen for symbolic approval to become law. It will allow Prime Minister Theresa May to start a two-year Brexit negotiation as set out in Article 50 of the E-U Lisbon Treaty. Brexit campaigners have welcomed the mandate given to the government ahead of the start of official negotiations.British Prime Minister Theresa May has accused Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of playing a game by calling for a second independence referendum.May’s reaction came after Sturgeon said she would seek another vote to split Scotland from the U-K once the terms of the Britain’s exit from the European Union become clearer. The Scottish First Minister accused London of failing to compromise with Scotland on Brexit. Scotland is planning to hold a second referendum between fall 2018 and spring 2019. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's largest nationalist party has also called for an independence referendum. Sinn Fein leader Mishell O'Neill said Brexit will be a disaster for the people and economy of Ireland. O’Neill also accused the British government of refusing to listen to the views of the majority. In the Brexit referendum last year, 56-percent of the people in Northern Ireland voted to remain in the EU.Watch Live: http://www.presstv.com/live.htmlTwitter: http://twitter.com/PressTVLiveLeak: http://www.liveleak.com/c/PressTVFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/PRESSTVGoogle+: http://plus.google.com/+VideosPTVInstagram: http://instagram.com/presstvchannelDailymotion: http://www.dailymotion.com/presstv
