The United Nations Envoy for Syria says additional rounds of Syria talks are needed before the negotiating sides agree on a deal. Staffan De Mistura made the comment on the fourth day of the UN-mediated talks in Geneva. He said the current sessions give both sides a deeper shared understanding and pave the way for future meetings. The talks that kicked off on Thursday are expected to go beyond the scheduled deadline of March 5. There’s been no report on the outcome of the negotiations yet. Sources close to the negotiating sides say no significant progress has been made. Representatives of the Syrian government and the foreign-backed opposition are in attendance. The previous rounds of U-N-brokered negotiations failed to produce tangible results.
