Description
(17 Aug 2017) Top US military officer General Joseph Dunford met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday, capping his China visit ahead of his departure for Japan.Earlier in the day, Dunford met with General Fan Changlong and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, after viewing a Chinese military exercise outside the northeastern city of Shenyang the previous day.The two sides also signed an agreement that would pave the way toward improving military communication, especially on sensitive issues such as North Korea.Dunford's visit to Asia comes after President Donald Trump last week declared the US military "locked and loaded" and said he was ready to unleash "fire and fury" if North Korea continued to threaten the United States.China has urged the United States and North Korea to "hit the brakes" on threatening words and work toward a peaceful resolution of their tense standoff created by Pyongyang's recent missile tests and threats to fire them toward Guam. You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
