The South Sudanese government and the UN World Food program -WFP, are working to boost aid delivery to areas affected by famine. WFP and the government are using Sudan to deliver assistance to South Sudan. In January Juba and Khartoum extended an agreement on humanitarian aid for further 6 months. UN agencies and the government announced a famine in the country last month. 100 thousand South Sudanese are said to be dire need of food aid while over 1 million face starvation.
