Description
Chinese scientists used Micius, the world’s first quantum communication satellite, for quantum key distribution (QKD), securing the world’s first intercontinental quantum video call between President Chunli Bai of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing and President Anton Zeilinger of the Austria Academy of Sciences in Vienna. Professor Pan Jian-Wei explains that the video encrypted by quantum keys was transmitted through the public network, while the quantum key distribution (QKD) was achieved using Micius satellite and the Jing-Hu (Beijing-Shanghai) Trunk Line.
